ThermiVa Q & A

What causes vaginal laxity?

Multiple vaginal births and the normal aging process can cause your vaginal walls and skin to loosen. This is known as vaginal laxity, and it often contributes to loss of sensation during intercourse and decreases satisfaction and pleasure during sex. It can affect you physically and emotionally, and put a strain on your intimate relationship.

Vaginal laxity is one of the most common health issues for women, but too many women don’t talk about it with their doctors, so they don’t know how to alleviate the condition, either.

How can ThermiVa® help?

ThermiVa is an innovative, noninvasive, painless treatment option that helps many women overcome and improve vaginal laxity without surgery or downtime.

ThemiVa uses controlled radio frequency (RF) energy to gently heat vaginal tissue. The procedure doesn’t use hormones, there’s no discomfort, and there’s no recovery time.

The RF energy promotes collagen growth and helps your vaginal tissue contract and tighten. Dr. Hsieh performs the ThermiVa treatment in-office, at your comfort level, to treat both internal and external vaginal tissue.

RF technology is easily temperature-controlled for your comfort, so ThermiVa is an easy way to improve vaginal laxity and the negative symptoms that come with it.

What can I expect during the ThermiVa procedure?

Dr. Hsieh uses a small handpiece that’s only about a half inch wide. It’s designed for a comfortable experience with an active tip on the end to deliver the RF energy.

The procedure takes only a few minutes in the office and you shouldn’t have any downtime, so you can return to your daily activities, though you may need to wait a couple days to resume sexual intercourse.

You can repeat the ThermiVa treatment every 6-12 months as needed, or as Dr. Hsieh recommends. ThermiVa may also help improve symptoms of mild urinary incontinence or overactive bladder, increase vaginal tightness, and improve the cosmetic appearance of labial tissue. It may also help relieve vaginal dryness and increase nerve sensitivity during sex.

Dr. Hsieh explains everything and answers your questions. If you want to reclaim your body after childbirth or menopause, and feel more confident during intimate moments, call or schedule an appointment at the Flushing office using the online system to see if ThermiVa is right for you.
